Ward councilor nabbed for mobilizing people to destroy police unit

Police in Mulanje are keeping in custody a Milonde ward councilor for allegedly mobilizing people to destroy Mathambi police unit in the district.

Malawi Police Service national spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed the development that Mike Skinner is in their custody.

At the moment, the police are still looking for his accomplices.

According to Kalaya, Skinner will answer a charge of inciting violence and malicious damage.

Last week, angry people destroyed the police Unit following the death of one of the suspects, whom police said hanged himself in a police the cell.
