A Zimbabwean national in Poland is lucky to be alive after she jumped off 2nd-floor apartment balcony trying to escape an attack from her boyfriend.

The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the attempted murder of the woman after it was discovered the man was wielding a knife.

The event took place on Friday, November 11 in Lublin. According to the findings of the investigation, Sebele T., a 26-year-old citizen of Zimbabwe, allegedly attacked his partner from the same country during an argument.

Details indicate that Sebele found her girlfriend with another man and confronted her.

The woman attacked the man before he began hitting her with fists on the face, body and head. When she tried to escape, he locked the apartment door and then threatened to kill her. After a while,  he grabbed a knife and tried to stab the victim with it.

Sensing danger, the woman opened the balcony door and jumped from the second floor to save her life. Paramedics and police officers arrived on the scene shortly after. As a result of the fall, the woman sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. The officers detained the aggressor.

During interrogation, it also came to light that this was not the first time the 26-year-old had beaten his partner. Nearly two weeks earlier, he had slapped her across the face with his open hand.

The prosecutor charged the man with bodily inviolability and bodily functions, as well as with attempted murder. It is punishable by life imprisonment. The court agreed with the investigators’ request and imposed a preventive measure on Sebele T. in the form of pre-trial detention.
