Former President Arthur Peter Mutharika will today attend the funeral ceremony of Senior Chief Mponda of Mangochi who died at the age of 98 on Tuesday.

This is according to Mutharika’s spokesperson Shadric Namalomba who is the publicist for the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Namalomba said the former head of sate will pay his last respect to Senior Chief Mponda.

On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Halima Daudi will represent President Lazarus Chakwera.

Senior Chief Mponda died on the night of Tuesday at his home due to high Blood Pressure (BP) which he fought for long and his body will be laid to rest today at Khaya headquarters in Mangochi district.
