The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has asked President Lazarus Chakwera to revise the price of a 50 Kilogram fertilizer bag of Affordable Inputs Program (AIP).
Government raised a 50 kilogram bag of fertilizer from K7,500 to k15,000, a development which did not please CDEDI.
The grouping has since asked government to consider revising the price before launching the program on November 19th 2022.
Speaking in Lilongwe during media briefing, Executive Director for CDEDI, Silvester Namiwa said government must not sell fertilizer they received from donors who are development partners.
CDEDI later urged government to immediately open ADMARC markets so that Malawians should have reasonable ways of accessing maize and other agricultural products.
