The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has ordered  Capital Foods Limited to refund K500, 000 to unfair trading and anti-competitive business practices.

The order follows investigations the commission conducted after receiving complaints.

CFTC acting executive director Apoche Itimu says the company supplies products that are likely to cause injury or harm to consumers and improper labelling of products.

According to Itimu, the commission considered and adjudicated over 73 cases during its 63rd meeting held last month.

The companies that have been ordered k500, 000 includes, Southern Region Water Board (SRWB), Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (Malawi) Limited and Wella Medical Aid Society (Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (Malawi) Limited) while the ones to refund k600, 000, k75,000 and k300,000 are PEP Stores, SMB Electronics and Yellowman Machines
