Last night angry people in went on rampage after a motorist hit a child and escaped the scene.
The incident happed at Magunda Trading Center along Limbe-Thyolo-Mulanje road.
The angry people resorted to blocking the road to show their anger with the incident.
Police were quick to intervene as they fired teargas to disperse the angry community members.
At the moment the situation has been controlled but the police are still patrolling the area.
The child was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment.
