PEOPLE DISPLACED IN MANGOCHI, CHITIPA DUE TO HEAVY RAINS

People in Mangochi and Chitipa distrcits have been rendered homeless due to yesterday’s heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.

At least 80 houses and a clinic in Mangochi in the areas of Traditional Authority (T/A) Bwananyambi and Jalasi.

Confirming the development legislature for Mangochi South Lilian Patel added that said the affected villages include; Bwana Somo, Naipwi and Nombo.

The houses and Namitambo School have their roofs blown off.

In Chitipa, over 40 houses have been destroyed leaving out 150 people from Ipenza 2, 4 and 5 villages in the area of Senior Chief Kameme displaced.

A school and a clinic in the area have also been affected.

Village headman Ipenza 4 has called for urgent support.
