Dedza District Hospital has been operating without electricity for two months now forcing hospital personnel to be using candles in some cases.

District Health Office spokesperson, Mwai Liabunya, confirmed the development while complaining that the hospital’s power backup gen set is currently not working.

Lilian Chilembwe, one of the Tuberculosis (TB) patient guardian shared her ordeal on the same.

According to Chilembwe, her patient has been taken off the oxygen machine despite his condition.

Liabunya has since said that the temporary solution lies in replacing the genset for backup power.
