Police in Kasungu are keeping in custody a 40 year old man after he was allegedly found in possession of raw ivory and a bag of Indian hemp.
Kasungu police deputy spokesperson, Fatsani Kalungama confirmed the development and identified the suspect as Chaulera Chigoneka.
Kalungama said chigoneka was arrested at Santhe trade center following a tip from well-wishers last night.
Chigoneka comes from Chatsika Village in the area of Chief Chimutu in Lilongwe.
He will soon appear in court to answer charges levelled against him.
The arrest was made in a police joint operation with wildlife crime investigators who stormed the house of the suspect.
