A woman from Zengeza 3 in Chitungwiza was on Monday arrested after she was discovered keeping her elderly husband’s decomposing body who died last Thursday in the house.
The woman only identified as Gogo Mahlahla has been arrested. She has been harbouring the dead body going about her usual business.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Chitungwiza residents thronged the house wanting to catch a glimpse of the dead body being removed by the police.
According to H Metro, police also found a man hiding in the ceiling when they searched the house to retrieve the decomposing body.
The man who is believed to be Gogo Mahlahla’s son was last seen about 10 years ago.
His name is Grant aged 39.
Grant’s cover was blown when the police went to their Zengeza house to retrieve his father’s decomposing body that had been kept since last Thursday.
Neighbours also revealed they last saw the now-deceased Sekuru Mahlahla over a decade ago.
Nyaradzo funeral services collected the body of Sekuru Mahlahla.
Police have not yet confirmed the details of the strange incident at the time of writing.
