Former acting Chief Executive Officer for the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) Helen Buluma has accused Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Dedza South Ishmael Onani of attempting to illegally own Chipoka Oil Deport in Salima.

The development comes barely a month after the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) claimed that some MCP Mps are planning to sell the deport to Indians.

HRDC then asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to launch an investigation on the matter.

Speaking when she appeared before the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament Buluma said she received enormous pressure from Onaniand his father in order to run Chipoka port in Salima.

Buluma alleged that on a number of occasions Onani badged into Nocma and Malawi Energy Regulatory Regulatory Authority (Mera) offices to threaten officials on the matter.

Onani is yet to comment on the matter.
