Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer for National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) Helen Buluma has has denied being an operative of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Buluma said this when she appeared before the Public Appointment Committee (PAC) of Parliament over mist surrounding her resignation/firing.

According to Buluma, she once contested on a DPP ticket for a parliamentary seat but later quit politics.

“I once contested in 2014 as an independent candidate and I went to work with UN and other companies. In 2019 I tried again on DPP ticket, later I decided to resign from politics and try other things,” she said.

Turning to mist surrounding her exit at NOCMA, Buluma said she resigned on her own due to undue pressure from Zamba.
