The Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia revealed that government has asked different donors to help them in fighting against cholera outbreak that is currently affecting the country.
This follows the increase in number of Cholera cases in the country which so far has reached 9,189 cases and 283 have been registered dead.
According to Mia, Cholera Outbreak has reached disturbing levels and government is engaging different donors to come and assist them with Water treatment and mass sensitization campaigns of teaching Malawians on how they can prevent themselves from Cholera.
“Government is also focusing on cholera vaccine to reduce the spread of the pandemic”, said Mia.
The Cholera Outbreak which started in March 2022 has so far affected 27 of the 29 districts of Malawi and represents the largest outbreak reported in the country in the past ten years.
