Chitipa Police Station Public Relations Officer Gladwell Simwaka has confirmed the arrest of a a 67-year-old man identified as Harold Simphosya for allegedly offering to sale his 7-year-old grandson at Three Hundred Thousand Kwacha.

Simwaka comfirmed the development saying Simphosya was arrested on 20 November at Chitipa Boma where he was offering the grandson for sale.

“The prospective buyer promptly alerted the police who rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect,” Said Simwaka.

Simphosya will appear in court soon to answer abduction and child trafficking charges.

He hails from Yonna village in the area of Senior Chief Mwaulambya in Chitipa.
