32 year old man has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with hard labour by the Liwonde First Grade Magistrate Court for burglary and theft.
The man Jackson Jafali was found guilty of stealing two pots and one pair shoes, all items worth K19, 500.
Prosecutor Rhoda Jeremiah prayed for stiffer punishment while reminding the court that the convict’s actions cannot be tolerated in society.
Passing his sentence, first grade magistrate Chrispine Sachuluka concurred with the state, slapping the convict with a 3-year jail term, as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Jafali hails from Mkolokosa village, Traditional Authority Sitola in Machinga district.
