Minister of health director of preventive health services Stone Kabuluzi has mentioned that unsafe water and large public gathering are factors that are contributing to the rise in cholera cases in Malawi.
Kabuluzi said the government is addressing the issue.
The ministry’s statistics show that from October 31 triple cases of cholera have been registered in the country, and for the past seven days recorded cases are 1009 with 39 deaths.
As of now, the country has recorded 9617 cholera cases and 293 deaths.
The first case was reported in March at Machinga District Hospital.
