Blantyre based Nigerian community has yesterday donated desks worth K2 million at Mbayani Primary School in Blantyre.
Blantyre Nigerian community chairperson Bonaventure Emmyk Uduchukwu said it is their tradition to carry out charity works at the end of every year.
“It is our responsibility to help people we live with in our community, we have a number of institutions including Malawi police service, Malawi prison service and Central Hospital.” He said
Mbayani Primary school management committee chairperson Fraser Minofu expressed gratitude to the Nigerians for the donation.
Minofu said, “Learners used to sit on the floor since many desks were damaged, we ask for well-wishers to support our school with desks and learning materials.”
According to Ndirande Zone primary education adviser Martha Dzingomvera, the desks will help during examination.
“Desks are crucial when standard eight learners are writing their exams.” She said.
