Angry villagers in Manase Township in Blantyre have set ablaze a house of neighborhood watch chairperson over the death of unknown man on Monday.
Blantyre Police Spokesperson Peter Mchiza has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
According to Mchiza, the angry villagers accused the neighborhood chair of mobilizing his members to assault to death the victim and the villagers wanted to revenge.
“After failing to get hold of the suspects, angry villagers set ablaze the house,” said Mchiza in an interview.
Police rushed to the scene to calm down the situation.
Meanwhile, no one has been arrested in connection with the fracas.
