A Bulawayo trainee medical doctor received the shock of his life when he discovered his pregnant girlfriend having intercourse with two men in less than four days.

Proper Mpofu (27) assaulted the two men mercilessly after becoming enraged by the disturbing discoveries.

According to the Bulawayo-based lifestyle tabloid B-Metro, Mpofu was caught hooking up with his pregnant girlfriend, Abercy “Spongy” Chishapira, at a city lodge.

Gumbo was then brutally assaulted by the trainee medical doctor, who threatened to sever his manhood. This incident occurred on October 7, 2022.

A suspicious Mpofu tracked his pregnant girlfriend to Butholenkosi Gula Ndebele’s flat a few days later, on 10 October 2022.

Mpofu then stormed into the apartment and discovered the two having intimate relations. He then assaulted his girlfriend’s lover with his fists and open hands.

Gula Ndebele was also hit with a guitar by the doctor before smashing his 55-inch Samsung television.

Mpofu appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Musaiwona Shotgame on two counts of assault and one of malicious property damage.

Despite his plea of not guilty and denial of the charges, Mpofu was found guilty due to overwhelming evidence.

The magistrate, however, spared the doctor from jail after fining him $70,000 for the first two counts of assault. If he does not pay the fine, he will be sentenced to seven months in prison.

He was sentenced to ten months in prison on count three of malicious property damage. Five months were suspended, however, on the condition that Mpofu compensates Gula Ndebele for the property he destroyed while beating him up.

The remaining five months were suspended for five years on the condition of good behaviour.

In passing sentence, Magistrate Shotgame said,

“He is single and engaged to an expecting girlfriend who is, in this case, at the epicentre of the commission of these crimes. She lured the two complainants for the Biblical fruits of wisdom and was bedded by the complainants.

“The accused was provoked by the conduct of the victims to be seduced by her. He is a first-time offender and is not employed but is a student at Mpilo in his fifth year.

“Accused, however, took the law into his own hands and invoked violence to resolve a dispute instead of dialogue. He used severe force to strike the victims with serious injuries. He was supposed to resolve his disputes with his girlfriend other than with the complainants.

“The court will impose a term of imprisonment suspending it on condition of good behaviour and restitution.”
