An inmate form Mzuzu Prison has this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations with 16 points.
This has been confirmed in a statement by the authorities from the Malawi prisons Service (MPS) department.
According to the statement, at least 101 inmates sat for this year’s examinations and 69 have passed representing 68 percent.
“The Malawi Prisons Reformatory Schools have registered a 68% pass rate in the just released Malawi School Certificate of Education examination results,” read the statement.
Zomba Central Prison has registered a 100 percent pass rate.
“Out of 101 candidates that sat for the examinations, 69 have passed representing 68.3%. The highest scoring candidate is from Mzuzu Prison with 16 points. Zomba Central Prison has registered 100% pass rate,” the statement read.
Last year an inmate from Mzuzu also registered to be the highest with 18 points.
This year is recorded as the highest passing rate compared to the last three years.
