Martha Chizuma, director general of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has been released on police bail.
Lawyers and Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo have confirmed.
Mvalo was responding to a motion by opposition Members of Parliament who demanded answers in Chizuma’s arrest.
According to Mvalo, They have information that Chizuma has been released and she is on her way home from Namitete police where she was being held.
Earlier, Mvalo and leader of the house Richard Chimwendo Banda expressed ignorance on Chizuma’s arrest.
But reports has it that Chizuma’s files have been tampered with, the claims are yet to be confirmed.
Earlier, Chizuma had a chance to talk to one of the country’s media houses Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBs) in which she said she has a very good idea of the timing.
“I know what is happening. And I know why it is happening now. I have a very good idea of the timing. They should be fighting corruption. Not this,” Chizuma quoted by ZBS.
Chizuma has been charged with making use of speech capable of prejudicing a person against a party to judicial proceedings contrary to section 131(1) d of the penal code.
