Police in Ngapani, Mwanza have arrested a Ugandan national identified as Mwenyi Abdallah, 24, for illegal entry and being found in possession of firearms without a license.

The arrest happened on December 6th, 2022 after police received information from well-wishers that they have spotted a man loitering within the Sable Farming estate (Ngapani) for unknown reason and was only communicating in English.

“Upon recieving the information, A/Supt Thomeck Nyaude, S/Insp Edith Nyaude and Sgt Isaac Chikasanda made a follow up and found the suspect heading the Sable Farming estate workshop,” reads information shared by police.

It further indicated that upon being questioned, he narrated that he is residing at a trading center called Kwisimba which is about 10 kilometers from Ngapani police unit and he was arrested and taken to his residential place where in the course of searching the bags, the suspect fished out a revolver which was hidden inside his underwear with an intention to shoot Sgt Chikasanda but police managed to overpower him where the revolver was seized.

“Checking inside the other bags, police found two pistols and a box containing 54 live ammunitions for the pistols and 9 live ammunitions for the revolver,” it added.

The information then highlighted that seizure of all the two pistols, revolver, all ammunitions and the arrest happened where primary interviews revealed that the suspect brought two sawing machines at Kwisimba to a Tailoring school in the area.
