At least 21 people from several households in Kaudzu Village at Machinga have been affected by Cholera, and currently admitted at the district’s main hospital.

Public relations officer for Machinga district health office, Clifton Ngozo said his office is suspecting a borehole that was dug close to public toilets in the village.

According to Ngozo, villagers have been drowning water from the borehole that is close to the public toilets, saying this could be the root cause of the disease outbreak.

Ngozo said they took the water sample for examination and results will be out today.

The number of Cholera cases in Machinga district has now risen to 84.
