At least 52 prisoners have completed the 6 months vocational skills training enabled by the Prison Fellowship Malawi (PFM) in conjunction with Malawi Prisons Service (MPS).

The graduation took place at Balaka-Half Way House, a place where prisoners with 6 months remaining to complete their sentence are trained in various skills for development.

Speaking during the event, PFM Executive Director Rodrick Zalimba asked the graduates to use the skills acquired from the facility for the betterment of the country.

In her remarks, one of the graduates Bertha Banda applauded the institution for providing the training, saying it has sharpened her mind.

The graduates have also received take home tools which will help them to open up workshops, which could in turn help create employment for community members.
