African spelling bee grand finale underway in Blantyre

The grand finale of the African Spelling Bee, is taking place at Golden Peacock in Blantyre featuring eight countries.
The competition is aimed at promoting reading and writing culture.
The spelling bee competition started with the preliminary round yesterday, before the grand finale today.
The champion in the competition is expected to win an all-expenses paid trip to the United States of America.
Apart from Malawi, some of the other spellers participating are from countries including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Zambia, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
