Widad Mohammed from Sudan is the senior champion and Elezino Etuele from Nigeria is the junior champion in the African Spelling Bee taking place in Blantyre.

Nigeria came top in the country contest which took place yesterday.

Mohammed is expected to travel to the United States of America with a parent, with all expenses paid for, outclassed spellers from Uganda and Kenya who were first and second runners-up respectively.

The senior champion makes it this time having failed to make it in the previous contests held in Uganda in 2019 and in Kenya in 2018.
