Hospital Medical Director for Mulanje Mission Dr Arie Glas said the hospital has not registered any deaths of under five children due to malaria the past four years.

Glas said this yesterday after receiving K8.5 million donation worth of Actellic 3000 CS from Eastern Produce Malawi Limited (EPM) for the IRS.

“Since 2017, we have not registered any death of malaria. We registered eight deaths in 2016, one death in 2017 and zero deaths for  the past four years,” said Glas.

He added that this was a vector control initiative which we have been implementing since 2012.

Eastern Produce Corporate Affairs Manager, Rabson Kachilele, said the donation is aimed at preventing malaria cases which are common during rainy season, especially deaths.

Kachilele said the EPM are spared by most cases from their facility and are sent to Mulanje Mission Hospital (MMH), and helping MMH in fighting against malaria is very important.
