A 48 year old woman of Mufulira on the Copperbelt Province has died after she was badly beaten by her boyfriend who is on the run.
It is reported that Gift Chomba of Chibolya compound was beaten on December 16, 2022 around 19:00 hours by her lover identified only as Henry, residing in the same area.
Following the beating, Chomba sustained general body pains and the matter was later reported by her son Roy Mulenga, as assault occasioning actual body harm.
According to police, an unknown object is alleged to have been used.
A medical report form was later issued, and Chomba was taken to Ronald Ross hospital within Mufulira.
The following day, Chomba was refered to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, where she passed on at around 17: 00 hours.
Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident and revealed that a docket had been opened.
Mweemba said a manhunt has been launched for Chomba’s lover.
