A 32 year old Burundian Gideon Niyungeko has been arrested in Lilongwe for allegedly being found with 8 Malawi national identity cards.
Kanengo police publicist Gresham Ngwira said the police made the arrest following a tip they received from well-wishers.
According to reports, Niyungeko is suspected t have used the ID cards to purchase Affordable Input Programme (AIP) fertilizer.
According to Ngwira, when the police searched his house they managed to find the national identity cards for different people.
The suspect will appear before court soon for unlawfully depriving or dispossessing any person of his identity card contrary to section 42 (d) of NRB Act.
