Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has promised to resign if the K750 million meant for AIP fertilizer will not be refunded in full.
Nyirenda said this in an interview with one of the local media houses in the country (Times radio).
According to Nyirenda, he travelled to Germany in an effort to recover part of the money which was frozen in one of the bank accounts in that country.
He further said that processes are underway to recover the full amount.
It is alleged that government paid a UK-based firm Barkaat Foods Limited K750 million in an effort to procure 25,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer, in what later became a scam.
The scandal led to the firing of the then Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe and his Deputy Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima.
President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera replaced the two with Sam Dalitso Kawale, the then Minister of Lands.
