Organizers of the National Day of Prayer which took place today in Lilongwe at Bingu international Convention centre (BICC) have said the offering will be donated to Chilanga School for the Blind in Kasungu.
The offering made is Two Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Six Hundred and Ten Kwacha (K2,949,610).
Top government officials including president Lazarus Chakwera attended the event.
President Chakwera offered One million Kwacha (1 million), followed by Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima who offered Seven hundred and fifty thousand Kwacha (K750, 0000) and former Vice President Khumbo Kachale offered Two hundred thousand Kwacha (K200,000).
The prayers were aimed at seeking God’s face on various challenges that Malawians have experienced in the year ending.
Chilanga School for the blind started with offering lessons to students with visual impairment only but later on graduated into inclusivity (catering for albino learners, those with hearing impairment, low vision learners and the rest of the learners) realizing that including all leads to equality in education.
Currently, the school has 110 students with 50 of the said students learning using braille.
