The Ministry of health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has received life saving Cholera supplies worth $176 million from World Health Organization (WHO).
The aim of the donation is to help cubing cholera outbreak in health facilities in the country.
The official presentation of the supplies took place at Capital hill in Lilongwe where WHO country Representative for Malawi, Dr Neema Kimambo delivered the supplies.
According to Chiponda, late reporting to treatment units is one of the reasons causing high death rates of the disease.
WHO supplied Cholera materials like 1.3 million water purification tablets, 433,000 ORS sachets and 129 000 zinc tablets which a lot of health facilities use.
According to reports from the ministry of health, Four hundred and eighteen (418) people have died of cholera since March where the first case was recorded.
