The statue of former Zambia President Kenneth David Kaunda who died at the age of 97 has been unveiled.

Kaunda died on June 17, 2021 after suffering from pneumonia.

The statue is located at Mulungushi International Conference Wing.

Hundreds of Zambians attended the unveiling ceremony.

In the 1950s, Kaunda was a key figure in what was then Northern Rhodesia’s independence movement from Britain.

He became president following independence in 1964.
