Chihana says Tonse Alliance on death bed

The Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President Enoch Chihana has come out of the cocoon to claim that the Tonse Alliance is just on paper and that there are no defined roles for the partners.

Chihana’s claims come amid rumours of infighting in the Tonse Alliance which is headed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

“As AFORD, we don’t know our role and responsibility in this Alliance,” said Chihana adding that: “I guess that is also the case with other alliance partners. The alliance is as good as dead.”

However, Umodzi Party (UP) President John Chisi trashed Chihana’s claims, saying the Alliance is intact.
