Healthy Authorities in Dowa said they are trying their best to effectively treat the high number of cholera patients in the district.

Currently, data from the hospital shows that three hundred and thirty three cases have been registered together with nine deaths, a development which authorities in the district are worried with.

Spokesperson for Dowa District Hospital Davie Nuka said they are disturbed with the increase of the cases adding that people in the district use water from unprotected sources such as rivers, streams and wells.

Nuka said though the WASH stakeholders such as World Vision are supporting them with resources but there is need for more support from other partners to completely deal with the outbreak.

According to Nuka, out of the 333 cases, 40 of them have been registered today, Wednesday December 28, 2022.
