One Student at University of Malawi (Unima) formerly Chanco has tested positive for cholera and is currently receiving treatment at Matawale Health center.
The student’s representative council (SRC) director of environment, health and safety Rightman Ngwira confirmed about the development.
He added that the directorate is engaging different ways to contain the spread of the disease in campus and students’ residential areas in Chikanda.
The directorate earlier announced the food inspection exercise as one way of dealing with the disease and ensuring cleanliness in campus and surrounding areas.
As of 2 January 2023, Zomba has registered 45 cumulative confirmed cases, 4 deaths, 29 recoveries and 12 patients have been admitted.
