Health authorities in Thyolo have comfirmed the death of a primary school headteacher at Mwitere who was suffering from Cholera.

Thyolo District Health Office spokesperson, Fanuel Makina did not disclose the details of the deceased but said no other cases have been recorded at the school, except two from a nearby Namwera village.

Makina has indicated that as of Tuesday, the district had cumulative 258 cases with 14 new ones, 24 admissions and seven deaths.

So far, the Government of Malawi has closed schools in the cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe to prevent further spread of the disease.
