The Parliamentary Committee on Health has asked government to consider offering portable water to communities as a way of fighting against cholera outbreak.

The Chairperson of the committee, Mathews Ngwale came up with this today when they visited Makhetha Health Center in Blantyre.

According to Ngwale, the health facility has 36 patients suffering from Cholera outbreak.

After visiting the health center also visited the community around the health center.

Ngwale said it’s sad that communities are using unhygienic water sources a development that has further added to the rise of cholera cases in the area.

Ngwale also called on the stakeholders to put in place proper measures to overcome the outbreak.

So far, Makheta has recorded almost 500 cholera cases.
