The District Health Office for Nkhotakota has praised the community and local health workers for their dedication and hard work in combating the cholera outbreak along the lakeshore.

According to Medical Officer, Dr Mussah Kambona, the district in past months recorded almost 1,200 cholera cases and claimed 53 lives but for the past three weeks, it has registered not more than three cases.

Kambona said this to the members of the Health Committee of Parliament when they visited the district to check measures put in place to overcome the disease.

Vice Chairperson of the committee, Eurita Ntiza has urged health personnel in the district to keep on practicing hygienic measures to the related disease whose current outbreak was recorded in march 2022.
