Grandfather Handed 14 Year Jail Sentence For Defiling Granddaughter In Thyolo

Court in Thyolo has sentenced a 69 year old man identified as Benson Harrison to 14 years imprisonment for defiling a 10 year-old grand daughter.
State prosecutor Sub-Inspector Felix Senzani told the court that in December last year, Harrison dragged the defilement survivor in his house at Chandamale village in Traditional Authority Nsabwe, after she was sent on an errand by her mother.
However, Senzani said after being suspicious on her return, the mother interrogated her but she concealed the ordeal until tests at Thekerani health centre proved positive.
In court, Harrison pleaded not guilty to the charge, but after weighing the evidence before the court, First Grade Magistrate Kondani Chinangwa meted out the 14 year jail sentence.
