Agness Nyalonje, the Minister of Education, has urged all parents and guardians in the country to take responsibility for their children’s well-being in the home.

In a statement, Nyalonje highlighted that of the five million primary school pupils in the country, only 38,000 are boarders, with the majority being day scholars.

Thus, she emphasized the importance of parents and caregivers taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of cholera by following recommended health guidelines.

Additionally, Government spokesperson Gospel Kazako announced that while schools in Blantyre and Lilongwe will open on Tuesday, they may have to close if the sanitation situation deteriorates further.
