The Malawi Prisons Service (MPS) has issued a statement denying the authenticity of an audio circulating on social media claiming to announce the selection of successful candidates for basic training for the position of Prison Recruit Warder (Grade N).

According to the statement, the selection process is not yet complete and any official announcement will be made through formal communication channels such as the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and print media.

The Malawi Prisons Service also urged the public to be vigilant and not to be misled by false information circulating on social media.

The official announcement will also be made through the Malawi Prisons Service official Facebook page and website.

The service urges the public to check these official channels for any updates on the selection process.

The Malawi Prisons Service emphasized that it is committed to transparency and accountability in its recruitment processes and will only make official announcements through established channels.

Last year in March the department released a vacancy calling for suitable Malawians to join service in enhancing public security.

In June, 2022, qualified candidates  were invited for interviews and the list of successful candidates is yet to be released.

The public is advised to exercise caution and not to be swayed by false information.
