A disturbing incident occurred at Mikundi Primary School in Thyolo, when a parent of a learner reportedly beat up a teacher.

The school’s headteacher, Dorthy Dan, confirmed the incident to the local media.

According to reports, the teacher in question had disciplined a student for misbehaving.

The student then reported the matter to his parent, who mobilized five other people and stormed the school.

They then proceeded to assault the teacher in question, as well as other teachers who attempted to intervene and protect their colleague.

The Thyolo District Council has yet to comment on the matter, but it is clear that this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Assaulting teachers is not only a criminal offense but also undermines the safety and the learning environment of the school.

It is important that the authorities take action and ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
