Information Minister, Gospel Kazako, has spoken out against recent statements made by Leader of Opposition, Kondwani Nankhumwa, who had claimed that President Lazarus Chakwera is “loudly sleeping.”
Kazako argues that the opposition fails to see the positive actions that the government is taking and has a history of being negative towards those who were chosen to govern in 2020.
Nankhumwa had criticized the Chakwera administration for the questionable arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) boss, Martha Chizuma, delays in declaring a national disaster, and the controversial 6.8 billion dollar grant deal with the Bridgin Foundation.
Kazako, in response, stated that the opposition’s statements are difficult to make sense of, as they don’t agree with the government on anything.
The Tonse-led administration has also responded to growing calls for Chakwera to declare cholera as a national disaster.
Kazako stated that the government is already responding to the issue and there is no need to make a further pronouncement.
The government has previously blamed the opposition Democratic Progressive Party for leaving the country with broken systems, which it says it is currently busy fixing.
