Former President Peter Mutharika and his wife, Gertrude, have issued a statement regarding their son, Tadikira Mafubza, who is currently facing charges in connection to a murder and human trafficking case.

Tadikira and four others have been implicated in the discovery of a mass grave of 30 illegal immigrants at Mtangatanga Forest Reserve in Mzimba district.

The Mutharikas stated that they expect justice to prevail in the case and expressed their gratitude towards all Malawians who have supported and prayed for their son.

The High Court in Mzuzu recently granted Tadikira bail after he had been on remand at Maula Prison in Lilongwe since his arrest in November of last year.
