Police in Ntchisi District have arrested Victoria Forex Bureau Cashier for allegedly stealing money over K700, 000 at the Bureau’s kiosk situated at Ntchisi Trading Centre.
The cashier has been identified as Hector Mamu, 38 and is alleged to have stolen the money between January 5 to January 10 this year.
According to the Regional Manager for the Bureau, it is alleged that the suspect escaped the audit exercise on January 12 by only keeping him waiting for six hours at the kiosk.
This prompted the Manager to report the matter to Police which led to the arrest of the culprit.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer the charge of theft by servant.
Hector Mamu hails from Matuwamba Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mchinji District.
