The District Disability Forum (DDF) has spoken out against the ongoing discrimination and stigma faced by individuals with disabilities in public health facilities in Nsanje district.

In a recent NICE Public Trust meeting, the vice chairperson of DDF, Mphamvu Kalima, highlighted instances of medics asking for money for services that are supposed to be free, as well as insulting behavior towards those seeking family planning services.

Kalima also addressed the difficulty in accessing loans for small business opportunities, emphasizing that individuals with disabilities should have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.

The District Medical Officer, Dr. Waleke Khumalo, stated that he was unaware of these issues and urged individuals to come forward and report such incidents for action to be taken.

Kondwani Malunga, NICE Public Trust District Civic Education Officer, stated that they are working to amplify the voices of marginalized groups and find solutions to the challenges they face.
