Ntcheu Police spokesperson Rabecca Ndiwate has confirmed the arrest 28-year-old man identified as Leckiyala Yonasi for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl who is his neighbor.
Ndiwate said Yonasi is suspected to have defiled the girl on several occasions in his house in November 2022 and whenever his wife was away.
“It is earlier this month, January, 2023, that the mother of the victim noticed some changes and signs of pregnancy on the girl. Upon asking her, she narrated to have been defiled by the suspect,” Ndiwate said.
Medical examination results confirmed defilement and a two-month pregnancy.
Ndiwate hails Zakutchire Village, in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kwataine in the district.
