The Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has expressed worry over the increase in number of people who died within 24 hours on Sunday January 22nd 2023 in the country.

This is the uppermost number of lives claimed within a day since cholera was first recorded in March last year.

According to Chiponda, within the same 24 hours, cholera has also recorded 599 new cases bringing the cumulative number of cases to 29, 364, while 1, 064 people are admitted in different health facilities in the country.

However, the Ministry has urged the public to follow all preventive measures to control the disease including use of hygienic water, frequent hand washing with soap and food hygienic.

She has also urged people to seek medical care when experiencing cholera signs and symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.

In addition to that, she has advised Malawians to seek medical treatment when undergoing cholera signs and symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea.

So far, cholera has claimed 960 lives since November last year.
