Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that the Central Committee of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) it today scheduled to hold an emergency meeting in the eastern district of Mangochi.
The emergency meeting follows a protest by some DPP top officials over the appointments of some party members, saying they were not consulted.
The eight disgruntled National Governing Council members who protested the new appointments are secretary general Greselder Jeffrey, former vice-presidents Bright Msaka (East), Kondwani Nankhumwa (South), Zelia Chakale (Centre) and Goodall Gondwe (North), treasurer general Jappie Mhango, director of youth Daiton Mussa and national director of women Cecilia Chazama.
According to information at hand, the emergency meeting will be held at former President Peter Mutharika’s retirement home in Mangochi.
DPP Vice President for the north Goodall Gondwe has confirmed of the meeting in an interview with the press.
Gondwe said he hoped the meeting will iron out the infighting the party.
